Yuka KANEYOSHI JPN (SP/LP)
Yuka Kaneyoshi is a young Japanese defender who has quickly become one of the most intriguing modern choppers on the international scene.
Biography and background
Yuka Kaneyoshi was born in 2006 and represents Japan in international competitions.
In recent seasons she has also played league matches in Germany, where her classical defensive style with long pips and precise footwork has attracted a lot of attention among defensive‑style fans.
Playing style
Kaneyoshi is a modern defender: she uses long pips on the backhand to chop from mid‑distance and to create heavy spin variation, combined with a more active, spinning forehand.
She is comfortable both several metres behind the table, defending, and suddenly stepping in to counter‑attack with her forehand, which makes her difficult to read and very dangerous in longer rallies.
Notable results
Internationally, she has collected a series of solid WTT results and, in 2026, reached the semi‑final of the WTT Feeder Cappadocia in women’s singles, a clear breakthrough performance at senior level.
On her way there she defeated, among others, experienced Russian international Olga Vorobeva, underlining that her defensive game already works against high‑level attackers.
